When using self-propelled sprayers to apply pesticides, it is crucial to select the appropriate pesticide and apply it at the right time. Furthermore, considering factors that affect efficacy, attention must be paid to timely application and ensuring the pesticide reaches its target—two issues that are often overlooked.

The optimal time for applying pesticides with a self-propelled sprayer is between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, and after 4:00 PM. Applying pesticides during these times prevents dilution by dew, thereby ensuring effectiveness, and maximizes direct contact between pests and the pesticide, increasing the chance of pest poisoning.

For pests affecting the roots, the pesticide should be applied directly to the roots or the sowing furrow. For pests feeding on the undersides of leaves, spray the pesticide on the leaf backs. Considering their piercing-sucking mouthparts, strong systemic insecticides can be selected for absorption and subsequent distribution to other parts of the plant, ensuring the pesticide reaches its target.
